The Board of Trustees of the Yek Min Ek Foundation convened its 45th Board of Trustees’ Meeting on 6th September 2022. The meeting was held virtually as a precautionary measure in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Yek Siew Liong, with Trustee Mr. Hii Ching Chiong, Dr. Wong Ching Seh, Mr. Law Siong Lee, Mr. Timothy Yek Li-Yuan and Trustee/Secretary Mrs. Edith Yek in attendance.
Under the guidance of Chairman Mr. Yek Siew Liong, the Board’s foresight in introducing an online scholarship application process enabled the Yek Min Ek Foundation to maintain its scholarship programme without disruption throughout the pandemic. The transition to digital applications ensured that students continued to have access to the Foundation’s scholarship programme and scholarship support despite the restrictions and challenges arising from the COVID-19 situation. A special appreciation was accorded to Trustee Mr Timothy Yek for designing and maintaining the website for Yek Min Ek Foundation.
For 2022, the Foundation selected 7 new Yek Min Ek Foundation scholars, while 13 scholars continued from the previous year, bringing the total number of scholars supported by the Foundation to 20 for the year.
The Yek Min Ek Foundation remains committed to supporting deserving students in their pursuit of higher education and to providing opportunities for young people to develop their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
