BINTULU: Eight new candidates have been added to the Yek Min Ek Foundation’s list of scholarships this year, bringing the total to 24 including 16 continuing scholarships from previous years.
The selected candidates will be contacted by telephone.
The foundation was set up in 1984 to assist needy students with good results to further their studies irrespective of their race or religion. Over the past 32 years, a total of 299 students have benefited from the scholarships.
Recipients do not need to repay the scholarship. However, they must serve in Sarawak for a minimum of three years upon the completion of their degree.
The trustees of the foundation are chairman Yek Siew Liong, secretary Edith Yek and Dr Wong Ching Seh and Hii Ching Chiong.
