Another seven needy students to benefit from Yek Min Ek Foundation

BINTULU: The Yek Min Ek Foundation has chosen seven new students to benefit from its scholarship this year.

This brings to 17 scholars who are receiving full scholarships from the foundation in 2018. According to a spokesman of the foundation, the selected candidates will be contacted by telephone.

He said Yek Min Ek Foundation was set up in 1984 to assist needy Malaysian students irrespective of race or religion with good results to further their studies.

Over the past 34 years, a total of 321 students have benefited from the scholarships.

It is understood that the scholars of the foundation do not need to repay the scholarship.

However the scholars must serve in Sarawak for a minimum of three years upon the completion of their studies.

The trustees of Yek Min Ek Foundation for year 2018 comprise Yek Siew Liong as chariman, Dr Wong Ching Seh, Hii Ching Chiong, Law Siong Lee, Timothy Yek Li – Yuan and Edith Yek as secretary.
